Chicken in Creamy Chipotle Sauce

Spice up ordinary chicken with the sweet tang of tomato, onion and vinegar in our Traditional Chipotle Mexican Cooking Sauce.


  • 1 tablespoon

    vegetable oil

  • 1/2

    small yellow onion, diced

  • 1

    fresh poblano chile, sliced strips

  • 4

    boneless, skinless, chicken breasts (about 1 1/2 pounds), cut into 1/2” strips

  • 1/2 teaspoon


  • 1/2 teaspoon

    ground black pepper

  • 1 (12-ounce) jar

    HERDEZ® Traditional Chipotle Mexican Cooking Sauce

  • 1/2 cup

    sour cream

Serves 4



  1. In large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. 

  2. Add onions and poblano pepper; cook 5 minutes or until softened. 

  3. Season chicken with salt and pepper and add to skillet. 

  4. Cook 5 minutes or until golden brown. 

  5. Add HERDEZ® Traditional Chipotle Mexican Cooking Sauce and simmer 7 minutes. 

  6. Stir in sour cream. Return to simmer.
