Green Chicken Chalupas

Chalupas are a famous snack in Mexico, especially in Puebla, where you can find them everywhere from street stands to restaurants. They’re really easy to make and it’s a perfect way to use leftover meat or in this case, chicken.

  • 1/2 cup

    corn oil

  • 24 (3-inch)

    corn tortillas

  • 2 cups

    HERDEZ® Salsa Verde

  • 11/2 cups

    cooked chicken, shredded

  • 1 cup

    queso fresco

  • 1 medium

    white onion, finely chopped

Serves 24 Chalupas



  1. In large, deep frying pan, heat oil until hot.

  2. Place tortillas into pan and soft-fry, about 4 seconds each side. Tortillas should be soft and not crispy.

  3. Remove from pan and drain on paper towels, absorbing as much oil as possible.

  4. Spoon about 2 tablespoons HERDEZ® Salsa Verde per chalupa.

  5. Top each chalupa with chicken, cheese and onion, serve immediately.
