Guajillo Tequila Shrimp

This 10-minute dish is the ultimate in rich, fabulous flavor. Serve it with white or brown rice, or with tortillas for dipping.


  • 3 tablespoons

    olive oil

  • 2

    garlic cloves, thinly sliced

  • 24 large

    shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • Salt and freshly ground pepper

  • 2 ounces


  • 1 cup

    HERDEZ® Red Guajillo Mexican Cooking Sauce

  • 1

    lemon, juiced

  • 2

    tomatoes, diced

  • 1 tablespoon

    unsalted butter

  • Freshly chopped chives

Serves 4



  1. In large skillet, heat olive oil. Add garlic and sauté until golden, stirring constantly. Remove garlic and set aside.

  2. Season shrimp with salt and pepper; add to hot pan and sauté 3 minutes.  Add tequila and carefully flambé. Cook until alcohol burns off.

  3. Add toasted garlic back to pan with HERDEZ® Red Guajillo Mexican Cooking Sauce, lemon juice and tomatoes.  On low heat, add butter and swirl until sauce slightly thickens.

  4. Serve shrimp garnished with freshly chopped chives.
