Pasilla Queso Dip

Making savory queso dip is easy with HERDEZ® Roasted Pasilla Chile Mexican Cooking Sauce. Use it to add a rich, smoky kick to homemade cheese dip for an appetizer that’s sure to please.


  • 2 tablespoons

    vegetable oil

  • 1 small

    yellow onion, diced

  • 1 cup

    HERDEZ® Roasted Pasilla Chile Mexican Cooking Sauce

  • 2 cups

    shredded white Cheddar cheese 

  • 2 cups

    shredded Monterey Jack cheese 

  • 1/4 cup

    heavy whipping cream 

  • 2 tablespoons

    freshly chopped cilantro

  • Salt and freshly ground pepper

  • Tortilla chips

Serves 4-6



  1. Heat vegetable oil in large saucepan over medium heat.  Add onion and sauté 10 minutes or until soft and caramelized, stirring often.  Stir in garlic and cook 2 minutes more.  Add HERDEZ® Roasted Pasilla Chile Mexican Cooking Sauce and bring to a simmer.

  2. Reduce heat to medium-low and add cheeses. Cook 2 minutes or until cheeses are completely melted, stirring constantly.

  3. Stir in heavy cream and cilantro. Season with salt and pepper. Serve warm with tortilla chips.
